By the time you reach Act 3 and the quest "Best Served Cold" in Dragon Age 2 you're already pretty deep in this whole mage-templar thing. You initiate this quest by reading the Best Served Cold letter on Hawke's desk. The vieo and this walkthrough will take you through the rest.
