For the longest time, Dead Island seemed to be... well, dead.
The intriguing zombie game was first revealed back in 2007 by its developer, Techland, with a subpar teaser trailer that compared it to already shelved games in the Resident Evil series and the upcoming Left 4 Dead. But since then, it's been a ghost, thought to be abandoned—until now.
Dead Island's newest trailer has resurrected interest in hopeful gamers, with a release date set for late 2011 by its publisher, Deep Silver.
But who cares about the game itself? The trailer alone is a masterpiece—something that can even be appreciated outside of the video game world. Its 3D graphics (probably done in Maya) are flawlessly amazing, and the reversed sequence from death to life sends chills down your spine.
YouTube user TheKittenJedi quipped "Someone show this to Roger Ebert."
It pretty much beats anything I've witnessed in horror movies from the last decade. It's bone-chilling and harrowing, obviously not for the squeamish, so be warned.
PS: Check out the other videos for the first 2007 trailer, along with the new one un-reversed, in chronological sequence.

WOWOWOWOWOW Amazing graphics!
Just watching the trailer alone is enough for me. That is so epic! Great graphics.
Wow - Looks like a great game
What an absolutely gorgeous video. It was so well put together. I almost want to say its original, but it has a vague familiarity to it. I hope the games story is as tragic as this trailer makes it out to be.
This brought tears to my eyes. So beautifully horrific.
AWESOME!!!!! Can't wait for it to come out!!!!!
